Continuing our countdown to the 5th Annual Philanthropy Awards, we turn the inspiring work of our Outstanding Corporate Philanthropist (100-500 employees).

Clif Bar & Company and its foundation (Clif Bar Family Foundation) are committed to Philanthropy throughout the East Bay and across the country. A private, family and employee-owned company, Clif Bar & Company is guided by five “bottom lines” or what they call their Five Aspirations: Sustaining our Business, Brands, People, Community, and the Planet. In 2014, Clif Bar donated more than $12 million – over $5 million in cash and over $7 million in product to help make those aspirations a reality.

Through ‘Project 2080’, a volunteerism program dedicated to volunteering the same number of hours of service as one full-time employee works in a year, Clif Bar employees collectively donated 10,332 volunteer hours to 333 nonprofit organizations. In the East Bay alone, 4,534 volunteer hours were donated to 120 nonprofits including helping to build a community garden for the nonprofit Urban Tilth.

In addition, The Clif Bar Family Foundation supported innovative small and midsized groups working to strengthen our food system and our communities, enhance public health, and safeguard our environment and natural resources. Last year, Clif Bar Family Foundation gave over $475,000 to 80 different nonprofits that work in the East Bay community through their small grants program including an $8,000 grant to Shelter, Inc. to help provide safe and stable housing and services to homeless families working to rebuild their lives and build a stronger community.

The East Bay is a better place because Clif Bar & Company’s exceptional commitment to raising the bar for philanthropy in our region.
