Candidate Training & Upcoming Webinars

Build the Bench | Now Accepting Applications For Our 2023 Candidate Training Program

There are many fresh faces being sworn into elected office across California. 31 new members of the State Assembly were elected to their first full term along with 7 entirely new members to the State Senate. In total, 30% of California’s legislative branch will be new on the job this year.

Not all of those faces will be new to the East Bay Leadership Council. We have been fortunate to meet prospective candidates and help them learn how to run winning campaigns through EBLC’s nonpartisan Build the Bench program since 2017. In just five years, twelve alumni have won office in the region.

We are proud of this early success and grateful to the individuals who welcome us into their public service journey. The strength of this program will always be in the people who participate.

The 2023 Build the Bench program will begin soon, and is a great opportunity for community leaders interested in running for office to gain the tools necessary to lead a successful campaign.

You can learn more about the program and apply to participate in our upcoming class at www.buildthebench.com.

Must Read | Alameda startup Andes uses microbes to capture carbon in farmland

San Francisco Business Times reports that a Bay Area startup is using microbes to capture carbon from the atmosphere and sink it into farmland, and the company has raised $30 million to fuel its growth.

Based in Alameda, Andes is developing microbes that can be sprayed onto cropland when seeds are planted. The microbes pull carbon from the air into the soil, and the carbon then transforms into minerals like calcium carbonate.

It's groundbreaking innovation taking hold right here in the East Bay.
