Registration Open | Join us for the Capitol Series with Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan

We are excited to announce that the next installment of the 2023 Capitol Series will feature Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan.

Assemblymember Bauer-Kahan was elected to represent District 16 in 2018, which spans from Livermore to Walnut Creek. She serves as Chair of the Committee on Water, Parks, and Wildlife, and serves on critical committees related to the East Bay's economy including Banking and Finance, Utilities and Energy along with Select Committees focused on cybersecurity, entrepreneurship, and mental health. She also founded the Select Committee on Reproductive Health—the first committee of its kind in the nation—during her first term.

Through committee assignments and her legislative priorities, Assemblymember Bauer-Kahan has shown an eagerness to take on a wide range of issues while staying rooted in building a more just and thriving region.

  • Dave Richardson of Woodard & Curran will present on the recently completed regional recycled water study by the Bay Area Clean Water Agencies (BACWA) "Regional Evaluation of Potential Nutrient Discharge by Water Recycling" that takes a deeper dive into evaluating Bay Area water recycling potential as a method of reducing nutrient discharges to the Bay.

Must Read | Here's how this East Bay mall could be converted into housing and research space

SF Chronicle: The Hilltop mall, sitting empty in Richmond since 2021, could become the site of a new multi-use development with new homes, retail and an employment center.

Details of the reuse plan for the East Bay mall, which industrial giant Prologis scooped up more than two years ago for $117 million, remain fuzzy. But the planning process has kicked into high gear with Oakland-based development firm Signature Development joining the effort a few months ago.

Preliminary renderings shared with the Chronicle earmark a majority of the property — up to 50 acres — for residential use. One of the land uses proposed is research and development and data centers on up to 14 acres of the property. Another 13 acres would be designated for parking and operations related to Walmart, which has a long-term lease at the property. Another nine acres could house some form of new retail.
